The knitted Sherlock Holmes

The knitted Sherlock Holmes

I saw the picture of Sherlock knitting and was totally stunned… I’m not a psychopath, I’m a high-functioning and KNITTING sociopath. Benedict Cumberbatch is one of the few male knitters?! I love him as the actor of Sherlock. His acting shows perfectly what I expect from a Sherlock Holmes and I love the very british style he has and plays. This pretension and arrogance in just the right amount to be perfectly endearing. He is like Sheldon Cooper just a bit more kickass and more mysterious. In my opinion it would make perfectly sense if Sherlock would be knitting. It would underline him being different than society and could even be a good addition to his other passion playing the violin. I heard from other knitters that knitting is a great way to come down and start thinking about important things. It helps me to make different decisions because it clears my mind and helps me to focus while I am getting relaxed. A perfect hobby for a professional thinker like Sherlock.

Sadly these knitting pictures are not real and most of them poorly photoshopped. But even if these pictures are not real they had a great impact not only for the many knitters. It is one of the few (famous) pictures showing a man knitting. It helps people to get used to it. Just a few people have a problem with knitting men, but many are just not used to it.

Let’s knit a Sherlock!

My next thought was: If Sherlock is not knitting, why not knit a Sherlock? A perfect addition for my geek blanket. Now I can proudly present my knitted Sherlock Holmes!   The knitting pattern will follow soon.

Should Sherlock knit?
